This summer we took several drives around the province. Here are pictures from some of the places we saw on the way. There are more places and pictures than these from our travels, but I’ll save those for another time.
Peggy’s Cove is iconic. It really is one of those places that seems to be on every tourist’s list of places to visit when in Nova Scotia, and for good reason. It’s quaint and beautiful, especially when you can catch it on a clear sunny day like we did. AND it was busy! Trying to find a place to park just so I could get out and take a few pictures wasn’t easy. Bring your walking shoes and expect to climb a hill when you stop to visit this lovely place.
Down in the Annapolis Valley, tucked between fields just outside of Aylesford, is Oaklawn Farm Zoo. Here you can see a variety of animals from different parts of the world, including some large cats. Can you imagine working in your field and hearing a lion roar — in Nova Scotia!? It’s definitely a possibility.
Annapolis Royal was the turn around point of one of our Annapolis Valley road trips. We parked just across from those store fronts in the bottom left picture, and took a short stroll along the pretty boardwalk to stretch our legs before hitting the backroads through the valley once again on our way home.
Along the Nova Scotia’s South Shore, we saw beaches and sailboats as well as some picturesque villages. It’s a lovely drive that we’ve taken more than once. Pictured here are (from top left going clockwise) one of the churches known at the Three Sisters in Mahone Bay, sailboats in St. Margaret’s Bay at Hubbards, and Lunenburg Academy in Lunenburg.
