Vacation is here!
August at our house means vacation. It’s the month when my husband is finally allowed to take a few weeks’ break from routine before the new school year starts.
Well, his routine changes, and mine tries to run as normal around his, except for any special activities we might have planned. So far, we haven’t done anything special. It’d be nice to at least take one day-trip before he heads back to work, but I don’t know if that will happen or not. Probably next week.
I did get a “vacation” from Uber Eats delivery due to my car being in the shop and then me getting sick for a few days. (A dose of antibiotics and some rest seem to have done the trick for that.) It’s not exactly how one wishes to get time off, but I was happy for the forced rest just the same. And the car also seems to be running well for now.

I made it a few years ago after a trip to Knaut-Rhuland House (c. 1793) in Lunenburg, NS. It’s just one of several historic homes I have visited over the years. My other pen name writes Regency stories and visiting these houses is great for helping to fill my creative well. One of the reasons that I wanted to visit this house in particular was because one of the owners, Conrad Rhuland, was a privateer who purchased the house in 1813, and in one of my Regency books by my other pen name, the hero is also a privateer living in that same era.
