Visiting Church (and not on Sunday)

“Oh!” his mother gasped. “Does Will have a girlfriend? Is that why he is here to talk to you on a weekday?”

The church pictured above is St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Chester, Nova Scotia. My husband and I took a peek inside of it back in August 2019 when we were doing some tours of interesting places in that area. (And just like Will visiting his father at church on a non-Sunday-day, we also visited this church on a weekday.)

I love touring historic sites and homes. This church is from 1840, so it qualifies as a historic site — it even has a plaque that says so. 🙂 We were actually in Chester to visit Lordly House Museum, which is just diagonally across the street from this church. When I saw that the church was open, we crossed the road and took a look inside. It’s a beautiful building.

I’m sure I’ll share pictures from Lordly House and the library park across the street from it in another post at some point. (Actually, the garden image with the yellow chairs at the top of the home page of my website is from the library park.)

Today, however, I chose to feature the church because Mark Bennett, father of the Bennett family, is a pastor, and a few scenes from my recent release Don’t Tell Mom I Have a Girlfriend are set at church.

I imagine that the Hatfield Falls Christian Church is not quite as historic as the one in the picture, and as you can see from the little story clip below, there’s a parking lot at the Hatfield Falls church, which is something the church in Chester did not have.

“Yes,” he said as he crossed to the door. “They are pretty, and I have just enough time to swing by my office and grab my lunch before I have to meet them to show them some apartments.”

“Oh!” he heard his mother cry with delight as he dashed across the parking lot to his truck. “Are they new to town?” she shouted after him.
