How many shelves (or e-readers) would you need? Would your library be small and cozy or grand and extensive? Above are images from three libraries. Two are found in Nova Scotia historical houses, and the other is a modern library that stands downtown Halifax. (I’m sure you can guess which one that is.)
Pictured from left to right in the image are…
- the library at Uniacke Estate Museum,
- Halifax Central Library, and
- the library at Prescott House Museum.
The Hatfield Falls Library makes several appearances in Don’t Tell Mom I Have a Girlfriend. One reason for that is that it is Barb’s (Will’s Grandmother’s) favourite hangout spot during the day.
I can relate to that. Libraries have always been one of my happy places. I spent a lot of time at the one which was down the street from our house when I was a middle to upper elementary child. In high school, I had a favourite reading chair at the library in that town. And… in college, one of my jobs was library worker.
These days, I have a favourite reading chair at home, and my library is housed on my phone or tablet reading apps. (I absolutely love that I can borrow ebooks from my library while wearing my robe and slippers from that favourite reading chair.)
Did you know? Don’t Tell Mom I Have A Girlfriend will be available through some library catalogs so you can request that your library get them if that is how you like to read, but that won’t happen until the book is actually published.
