On a sunny and not too cold day at the end of December 2021, my husband and I took out final trail walk of the year. The trail we chose to walk is located between the TransCanada highway 101 and the Sackville River and is known as the Sackville-Bedford Greenway Trail.
We started on the Lower Sackville end of the trail and did not take it all the way to Bedford. In fact, we stopped at that short metal post at the end of the bridge pictured above and made our return trip, which is only a relatively short distance along this 8 km (one-way) trail.
The portion of the path we walked started with the river on our right and the highway on our left. Then, we crossed a bridge and the river and highway were both on our left and the lands of the Bedford Rifle Range was on our right. At the end of our walk, we crossed another bridge and had we followed the path further, we would have crossed under highway 102 and ended up in Bedford and the trail would have gradually become urban.
